You Installed GA4. But Is It Actually Telling You The Truth?
GA4 (Google Analytics 4) has been running for months. You’ve got data flowing in. Reports exist. But when you ask “which marketing channel actually drives revenue?” or “why did conversions drop last Tuesday?” the answers aren’t there.
Installation isn’t implementation. Default GA4 captures generic events that tell you what happened, not why it matters. Every day without proper configuration is invisible opportunities slipping past: the customer segments converting at 3x average, the friction points costing 15% of revenue, the attribution insights buried in data you’re not capturing.
We engineer GA4 implementations that answer your actual business questions, not just Google’s default ones.
Let us audit your GA4 account and we’ll show you what you’re missing.

Most businesses treat GA4 like Universal Analytics with a new interface: install the code, check the box, move on. Six months later they’re staring at reports that don’t answer their questions, wondering why they can’t figure out which channels genuinely drive revenue.
Here’s what a wonderful GA4 setup delivers:
Reach out, request a callback and we’ll arrange an initial discovery call. We get every project is unique so we like to understand the current state of play from you. However, below details our standard process for our GA4 setup and configuration service.

You finally trust your data because it reflects reality. Marketing decisions improve immediately: you know which channels actually drive revenue. With solid foundations, you can layer on sophisticated capabilities like server-side tracking, predictive and customer behavioural analytics.

Complete implementation takes 6-8 weeks from kickoff to final handoff. Week 1-2 is discovery and strategy, establishing what we’ll track and why. Weeks 3-5 are configuration and testing in staging before production. Weeks 6-8 are integration with other platforms, training, and documentation. We don’t rush: getting measurement right matters more than getting it fast. Quick implementations miss business context and create technical debt.
Investment depends on implementation complexity, integrations required, and custom reporting needs. Most implementations range from £2k-£25k. Simple setups (basic ecommerce or lead tracking) sit at the lower end. Complex implementations (multi-platform tracking, advanced attribution, extensive integrations) require more. We’ll provide specific pricing during your discovery call after understanding your requirements. Payment typically splits across project phases.
Absolutely. We frequently audit and improve existing implementations. Common issues: default events without business context, broken cross-domain tracking, consent management blocking measurement, missing custom dimensions making segmentation impossible. We’ll audit your current setup, identify gaps, and remediate whilst preserving historical data. Often faster than starting over because foundational connection exists.
Training is included in every implementation. We cover GA4 navigation, report interpretation, and basic configuration changes. Training adapts to your team’s technical level: marketing teams get interface training, technical teams get GTM and data layer training. You’ll receive recorded training sessions and written documentation. The goal is knowledge transfer, not dependency. Your team should feel confident maintaining what we build.
Yes. Many clients choose ongoing analytics support for continuous optimisation, new tracking requirements, and strategic consultation.
GA4 setup establishes foundational measurement: page views, sessions, basic conversions. Enhanced commerce adds product-level tracking: item views, add-to-cart events, checkout steps, purchase data, product performance, shopping behaviour analysis. Most ecommerce businesses need both. We implement them together in coordinated fashion. Enhanced ecommerce requires proper GA4 foundation, so we ensure base configuration is solid first.
Not initially. Server-side tracking recovers data lost to ad blockers and privacy restrictions, but adds complexity and cost. We recommend starting with client-side GA4 properly configured. Once that’s working and you’ve proven ROI, consider server-side as enhancement. Some businesses need it immediately: healthcare, finance, or anyone handling sensitive data. We’ll assess your situation and recommend honestly.
Historical UA data remains accessible but Google stopped processing it July 2023. We don’t migrate UA data to GA4 because the data models are incompatible. Instead, we establish year-over-year comparison strategies using both platforms during transition. You’ll maintain UA access for historical reference whilst building new GA4 data. Export critical UA data before Google deletes it (currently scheduled for July 2024).
Yes. Multi-property implementations use unified measurement strategy with consistent event naming, shared custom dimensions, and cross-property reporting. We’ll architect data collection supporting consolidated analysis whilst preserving property-specific insights. Complex but manageable: requires careful planning around data layer architecture and GTM container strategy. Cost increases with property count due to configuration and testing requirements.
Google Consent Mode v2 is our default approach. Maintains measurement capability even when users decline cookies through conversion modelling and cookieless pings. We integrate with your cookie consent platform (OneTrust, Cookiebot, etc.) to respect user choices automatically. Implementation includes consent banner configuration, GA4 settings adjustment, and documentation of data processing decisions. Privacy compliance is engineering requirement, not afterthought.
Most common: Google Ads, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads for campaign measurement. CRM platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce) for closed-loop reporting. Email marketing tools (Mailchimp, Klaviyo) for campaign tracking. BigQuery for advanced analysis and data warehousing. Looker Studio for custom dashboards. We’ll identify integrations during discovery based on your tech stack and reporting needs.
Yes. Offline conversion tracking imports sales data from your CRM or POS system, matching to GA4 sessions via customer ID or transaction ID. Phone call tracking integrates through services like CallRail or ResponseTap, passing call data to GA4 as conversion events. Both require technical implementation: API connections, data transformation, and testing. Essential for businesses where significant conversions happen offline.
We combine analytics expertise with development capability. Our developers understand tracking requirements, our analysts inform technical architecture. This integration means tracking that developers can maintain and analysts can trust. No retrofitting analytics onto finished implementations. We engineer measurement systems considering data accuracy, site performance, and privacy compliance together. One team accountable for complete solution.
Three criteria: technical accuracy (data matches reality), business utility (reports answer your questions), team confidence (your people can navigate it). We validate accuracy through transaction reconciliation and test event verification. We measure utility by whether you’re making different decisions based on data. We assess confidence through team feedback and documentation completeness. Success is trusted data informing better decisions.
Usually yes. GA4 connects to Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, and custom dashboard platforms via API. We’ll assess your current dashboards during discovery and recommend integration approach. Sometimes rebuilding dashboards in Looker Studio is more effective than forcing GA4 into legacy reporting tools. We’ll be honest about what’s possible and what’s practical given your setup.
