The Problem

As the 2024 Euros approached, Betfred aimed to use the excitement of the tournament to drive traffic, boost audience engagement and increase conversions on their Betfred Insights website. The goal sounded straightforward, to develop a Euros 2024 predictor game, inspired by their previous World Cup version.

The task didn’t come without its challenges however. It wasn’t as simple as just reusing the old web page and changing tournament information, it required custom WordPress development.

The Solution

A custom WordPress plugin, built from scratch using custom PHP and Javascript to gamify the Euro 2024 tournament.

The Result

An interactive online experience that encouraged users to predict match outcomes or randomise results to predict a tournament winner.

The campaign drove a surge in traffic and new sign-ups on the Betfred Insights website during a key period in the sporting calendar.

While England may not have lifted the trophy at Euro 2024, our final result was a clean win.
