Case Study:
Hug at Home – Christmas Campaign

Overview

Hug at Home is a Yorkshire based homeware company who specialise in eco-friendly and sustainable textiles that are manufactured at home in their Huddersfield mill. They are best known for their eco-friendly and machine-washable Hug Rug range.

With Christmas fast approaching, Hug at Home asked us to help them spread some festive cheer with a Christmas campaign and end the year with a bang. The aim was to create a big and bold campaign that would drive customer engagement within their existing customer base, while also increasing brand awareness and reaching new customers.

We didn’t want to propose a run-of-the-mill Christmas ad, so we proposed going all out with a custom built, 24-day online advent calendar. Working alongside the client, we helped to define the design, the content of the calendar and how it would be promoted across email and socials.

Our development team began by building a custom feature that integrated with Shopify’s backend so that content could be uploaded and edited directly within the platform. Each door was coded to be revealed only on the corresponding day of December, encouraging users to return every day to see what offer was waiting for them in the countdown to the big day.

The Outcome

Throughout the 24 days the campaign was live, the buzz around it grew and users continued to return to find out the latest presents and offers available to them, bringing a 92% increase in sessions to Hug at Home’s website compared to the previous period. Hug at Home received 45,000 new email subscribers off the back of the campaign and saw an increase in revenue compared to the previous year.
